Making a Difference Together

Furkids

"Furkids, headquartered in Atlanta, GA, is a 501c3 nonprofit charitable organization that operates the largest cage-free, no-kill shelter in the Southeast for rescued cats and Sadie’s Place, a no-kill shelter for rescued dogs.
Each year, Furkids rescues more than 5,000 homeless and abandoned animals providing them with the best medical care and nurturing environment while working to find them a forever home. More than 700 animals are in the Furkids program today, in the Furkids shelters, 8 PetSmart and Petco adoption centers, and over 600 foster homes in the Atlanta area. Furkids also operates five thrift stores, which fund approximately 30% of their lifesaving work."

Zoo Atlanta

"Founded in 1889, Zoo Atlanta is the city’s oldest cultural institution and is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The Zoo’s history began when a traveling circus went bankrupt, and a local businessman purchased and donated the animals to the City of Atlanta. The animals were relocated to the grounds of Grant Park and so began the history of a small, urban zoo surrounded by park greenspace. Almost a century later, in 1985, Zoo Atlanta and the City of Atlanta came together to improve Atlanta’s Zoo by restructuring it as a private, nonprofit corporation. This public-private partnership launched an extraordinary period of rebirth. Over the past two decades, Zoo Atlanta has transformed into a recognized leader in animal management, research, and conservation efforts around the world. In 2014, the City of Atlanta announced that it was entrusting Zoo Atlanta with stewardship of the former Cyclorama building and its surrounding property, which launched Grand New View, the most transformative project in Zoo Atlanta’s history. The multi-year project was completed in June 2020, and it created an all-new African Savanna featuring new habitats for African elephants and other species; a one-of-a-kind event destination in Savanna Hall; and a grand new entry plaza in keeping with the historic charm of the community."

Our Mission: "We save wildlife and their habitats through conservation, research, education and engaging experiences. Our efforts connect people to animals and inspire conservation action."

Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary

"With the help of talented curators, keepers, staff and volunteers, the new Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary will promote animal appreciation and provide wildlife education. We continue to work closely with both the GDNR and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to ensure everything we’re doing is in the best interest of the animals. Our plan includes various programs for schools, home-schoolers and the general public. Our goal is to provide the animals with enrichment activities, high quality diets and well-maintained habitats. We thank all of you for your support and generosity and hope to see you at YRWS soon!"
